Today, the gardens continue to flourish under the careful stewardship of the Merritt family, preserving Iris’s legacy while embracing a future centered on conservation, education, and sustainable tourism. Visitors can stroll along winding pathways beneath majestic banyan trees, discover an ever-changing collection of tropical flora, and enjoy breathtaking panoramic views overlooking the Caribbean Sea. Throughout the gardens, native and exotic plant species thrive together, creating a living collection that reflects the remarkable biodiversity of Jamaica and the wider tropics.

At Norse Hill, caring for the gardens means caring for the environment. The estate is maintained using chemical-free gardening practices, allowing plants, pollinators, and wildlife to flourish naturally while preserving the health of the surrounding ecosystem. To conserve one of our most valuable natural resources, the gardens are sustained through an extensive rainwater catchment system and efficient irrigation methods that nourish the landscape while minimizing water waste. These sustainable practices ensure the gardens remain vibrant, resilient, and beautiful for generations to come.
